Neighbourhood Diaries is a collaborative project conceived by Krupa Rajangam of Saythu, and Archana Prasad of Jaaga. It looks at documenting oral histories of Bangalore’s neighbourhoods through interviews, research and short video films.  Our work, steeped in research, is presented as Diaries and People Portraits. Diaries capture snapshots and stories of individuals and community groups engaging with socio-cultural heritage of their neighbourhood.  People Portraits are interviews with people who are representative of the neighbourhood’s character.

Starting with archival research to understand the neighbourhood’s documented history and heritage, we conduct field research to identify and engage with local community groups. Following this we conceptualize short films and create them. Photo documentation is also conducted.

Once the process is completed, we present our work at the relevant neighbourhoods and on this website as a Creative Commons property.
